Staff volunteers from TL&C (Tender Loving & Care), one of five teams under Singapore Pools' Staff Volunteer Programme (i-Shine), brought some festive cheer to the children of Sunbeam Place on 2 February 2008.

The children were treated to stories about Chinese New Year and taught to make festive lanterns out of ang pows to decorate the dining hall at the Home.

"It was a good feeling to be able to share with the kids, the meaning of Chinese New Year, and see the smiles on their faces," Winn, TL&C member.

"When we finished making his lantern, the little boy proudly told me that he wanted to hang his lantern next to his bed. I felt very proud too", Lilian, TL&C member.

The volunteers and children shared a Chinese New Year lunch together and the children were given ang pows filled with chocolate golden coins.

"The food was yummy!" exclaimed Jane, 6.

Sunbeam Place has been TL&C's adopted home since 2003. Other than festive activities, TL&C members also run a reading programme for the children.
