Singapore Pools (“Pools”) will be introducing PoolzConnect, a phone service for football betting. We will pre-launch PoolzConnect with the start of the Confederations Competition on 15 Jun 2005. Our pre-launch activities include having staff at 12 selected branches (Annex A) from 15 to 19 June between 10 pm to 12 midnight to inform customers about PoolzConnect and to receive their feedback and indication of interest in the service.

The PoolzConnect phone service will complement Pools' existing physical retail network, providing eligible individuals a convenient way to have an occasional football flutter.

A Pools survey revealed that we have to offer a phone service in order to serve those customers who are currently betting with private operators. These customers have cited that the convenience of a phone service offered by private operators is a significant factor influencing their decision to bet with them.

PoolzConnect has been designed to leverage on Singapore's modern banking infrastructure. PoolzConnect will be launched with the participation of the three major local banks, DBS, OCBC and UOB. Each time a customer places a bet, his or her PoolzConnect account will be debited to cover the bet amount. If there are insufficient funds in the PoolzConnect account, the designated bank account will be debited for the amount. Winnings will be automatically credited to the designated bank account.

The current criteria for Singapore citizens and permanent citizens interested to use PoolzConnect service are that they must be at least 21 years of age and be able to set aside a sum of S$5,000 in a designated bank account. PoolzConnect customers are required to place a minimum bet amount of $50 per call.
