Livewire (Marina Bay Sands) hosted the launch of the Non-Profit Management Programme for the 21st Century (NPM21 Programme) on 1 December 2011. The NPM21 Programme is a unique and significant partnership between the NUS Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy and the Tote Board, which aims to strengthen the management of the non-profit sector in Singapore and globally.
The15-day programme, which will start on 13 February 2012, is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of senior management staff of non-profit organisations within and outside of Singapore, and was created in consultation with the National Council of Social Service.
Tote Board Chief Executive, Mr Tan Soo Nan, said: “We are delighted to partner with the NUS Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy and the National Council of Social Service to jointly launch the Non-Profit Management Programme for the 21st Century. Our goal as the major funder for NPM21 Programme for 3 years, together with Tote Board's Overseas Scholarship Programme, is to help strengthen the management of the non-profits in Singapore. As part of that effort, we are also delighted that NPM21 Programme will use some of the Singapore case studies that have been written by the NTU Asian Business Case Centre which has also received funding from the Tote Board over the past 3 years.”
He further added: “It is our hope that NPM21 Programme will be able to attract some overseas organisations for the limited number of places reserved for them as their participation would certainly enrich the learning experience for the participants of NPM21 Programme. We will continue to focus on helping the non-profits to uplift the standards of their talent pool and increase this talent pool by enhancing our current programmes or launching new initiatives.”
In addition to being a donor to the NUS Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy since 2004, this is the first time the Tote Board has committed almost S$1 million for this open enrolment programme to be run annually over three years. |
