Milestones

In the 1960s, a newly independent Singapore started on the road of nationhood. Back then, there was a serious problem of triads and illegal gambling syndicates. It was against this backdrop that Singapore Pools (Private) Limited was set up on 23 May 1968 as the country's legal lottery operator.

We began with a simple, manual version of Toto in 1968, followed by Singapore Sweep in 1969. Our tickets were sold from small stand-alone booths dotting the island.

The 4-Digit numbers game was introduced in the mid 80s, timed with the company's changeover from manual operations to a computerised gaming system.

Our booths became proper outlets. SCORE, Singapore's first legal football betting game, was launched in 1999, heightening interest in local football. Then STRIKE! was introduced in 2002 for international football tournaments.

Complementing Pools' existing physical retail network, an Account Betting service - PoolzConnect - was launched in 2005. The service provides customers a convenient way to have a football flutter without having to queue at the outlets.
