Singapore Pools gave out its inaugural Retailers Awards at the Meritus Mandarin Hotel on 27 November 2008. The Retailers Awards are important to recognise their contributions and efforts in the partnership.
"Our retailers have been a part of Singapore Pool's network since the 1980s, serving our customers. The awards for individual retailers are intended to spur them to cross the bar and achieve higher levels of service, efficiency and commitment that will bring us beyond 2008," said Ms Janice Goh, Director for Retail Distribution. She added that the criteria for the Retailers Award covers a broad range of elements including outlet performance, upkeep of outlet, retailer initiatives as well as providing good customer service.
PFG Framing & Trading located at Jurong West won the Best Retailer Award for its commitment and dedication to operational and customer excellence. Mdm Chuan Yue Chuin, owner of PFG Framing & Trading, was surprised by the unexpected win when her name was announced during the Awards ceremony. What edged out the others was her emphasis on providing excellent service to her customers. "I am fortunate to be supported by good and dedicated staff who are willing to work extended hours on occasions when there are many customers in the queue. Singapore Pools has also provided me with prompt support especially when there are technical and operational problems which needed to be resolved quickly so that disruption to the business can be avoided," said Mdm Chuan.
The other award winners were Chwee Huat Trading, Seah Geok Eng Agency, Sheng Moh Fruits & Provision Store and Tong Aik Huat.
