River With A Heart (RWAH), a novel charity river cruise-cum-dinner charity event on 28 Oct 2014 organised by Singapore Pools and Community Chest, attracted strong support from over 200 generous donors like DBS, Far East Organisation, NTUC Fairprice, and Woh Hup Pte Ltd.
The proceeds from RWAH, song dedications and sing-a-longs with the Vernon Cornelius band raised $67,400 for each of the six beneficiaries. They were Asian Women's Welfare Association, Association For Persons With Special Needs, Haemophilia Society of Singapore, High Point Community Services Association, Singapore Anglican Community Services and Singapore Leprosy Relief Association.
Key corporate partners for RWAH were Far East Organisation for sponsoring the use of The Clifford Pier and dinner, as well as Singapore River Explorer for co-sponsoring the river tour.
River With A Heart is the latest fund-raiser under Singapore Pools' staff community programme, iShine. Since 2007, more than $4.1m has been raised in aid of numerous causes.
