The sweltering heat did not deter
the tenacity of 39 corporate teams with over 580 players at Our Tampines Hub on
9 November 2019. After an intense four-hour battle, Keppel Group and
Oracle Corporation made it to the final rounds of FWAH 2019. With the two
finalists equally matched in a goalless draw at full-time, Keppel Group
came out tops with a 3-1 in the sudden death penalty.
A celebrity charity match was also played
between FAS Ex-Internationals and Sport Singapore Ex-Internationals. Former
national football Legends like Lim Tong Hai, Indra Sahdan Daud, Razali Saad,
Aleksandar Đurić and Terry Pathmanathan wowed the crowd with their play as they
did their bit for charities.
With Sport Singapore Ex-Internationals’ Md
Hyrizan, scoring the 16th goal against FAS Ex-Internationals, the former was
declared the winner of the charity-friendly. Through the match, Singapore
Pools donated $5,000 for each goal scored at the charity-friendly, with
dollar-to-dollar matching from Tote Board. The celebrity footballers helped
raise an additional $160,000, contributing to the overall kitty of $951,000 -
marking the highest-ever record raised for FWAH.
Held on 9 November, Singapore Pools in conjunction with its iShine (Pools’ Staff Volunteers Programme), and co-organisers, the Football Association of Singapore and Sport Singapore, organised another successful edition of Football With A Heart (FWAH) 2019.
FWAH is the largest 5-a-side football charity fundraiser held at Our Tampines Hub, Singapore’s first-ever integrated community and lifestyle hub for the second consecutive year. The event was graced by Ms Grace Fu, Minister for Culture, Community & Youth. The event is Singapore Pool’s flagship fundraiser which reinforces the use of football as
a force for good. Nine
adopted charities, namely President’s
Challenge, FAS Cares, SportCares Foundation, Singapore Children Society, Campus
Impact, Metta Welfare Association, SHINE Children & Youth Services, RSVP
Singapore and Society for the Aged Sick will benefit this year.
