TIGERS BANK ON PULLING OFF UPSETS
In the last two seasons, Balestier coach Abdul Karim Razzak had to live on a shoestring budget to assemble a squad that could put up a decent fight against the bigger clubs.

He did well and could not be accuse of fielding an embarrassing line-up each time, after they finished seventh both years – out of 11 clubs last year and 10 in 2005.Last season, Balestier were the darkhorse and they lived up to the billing by pulling off several upset wins, among them over Home and Woodlands, before finishing in a creditable seventh position. In his third season with the club, Abdul Karim faces his biggest test to date.

The departure of his two African strikers, Kengne Ludovick and Osagie Ederaro, who both scored a combined total of 25 goals last season, has since left a huge gap in his frontline.A lot now will depend on former Albirex pair Norikazu Murakami and Ryuji Sueoka to lead the Tigers.
