V Sundramoorthy returns to the S.League with a massive task on his hand. After a three-year hiatus coaching the national youth teams, the mesmerizing former Singapore striker and Jurong coach will have another shot hunting for honours as coach in the league.
But unlike at Jurong, he now has a bunch of younger players to handle and it could test his mettle. He also has only six survivors from last year’s squad and will have his work cut out for him if the Young Lions are to equal or better their third-place finish last year.Sundram can, howrever, rely on the services of skipper Baihakki Khaizan, Moudourou Moise and Khairul Amri to provide experience and stability to a youthful side who are expected to take time to settle down.
One player to watch is precocious talent Harris Harun. The 16-year-old central midfielder will become the youngest player to feature in the league. He will be an influential presence with his no-nonsense tackling and array of passes.
