Programme Highlights

  • Singapore Pools launched its 9th annual Responsible Gaming programme in July 2015, with the slogan, "Am I Playing Responsibly?", a theme that seeks to re-engage customers to pause and think about their gambling behaviour and to reinforce the importance of playing responsibly. Customers took part in a Responsible Gaming Contest online and at selected outlets.

  • The Responsible Gambling Forum, in partnership with Singapore Pools, held three Responsible Gaming Roadshows with interactive games at Singapore Pools outlets. Singapore Pools also hosted a lunch talk, "Understanding Addiction", by Ms Tham Yuen Han, Executive Director of WE CARE Community on 28 July at Livewire (Marina Bay Sands) for community partners and other stakeholders.

  • Singapore Pools staff and retailers attended the annual responsible gaming refresher training to update themselves on responsible gaming knowledge and practices.

  • Coinciding with the 2014 World Cup tournament period so as to relay the messages of playing responsibly and staying away from illegal betting during this popular football season.

  • RG contest for customers to guess the correct captions for two comics.

  • Lunchtime talk by Professor Mark Griffiths from Nottingham Trent University, sharing insights on youth and online gambling with some 100 stakeholders and guests in attendance.

  • Activity-based learning at all outlets for frontline staff and retailers, refresher training for all staff and retailers.

  • Extension of RG campaign to become a year-long affair starting with this campaign, pushing out different messages at various periods of the year.

  • Coinciding with the Euro Champ 2012 football season to serve as a timely reminder for football bettors. Online interactive game, game card contents and roadshows for customers.

  • Keynote speech by Dr Jasmine Loo, member of the National Committee of Problem Gambling, Malaysia on the topic "Are Chinese Born Gamblers?"

  • Refresher training and workshops for all staff and retailers, held in partnership with Thye Hwa Kuan Moral Society, YAH! Community College and Singapore Polytechnic.


Don't borrow to bet

Programme Period: 7 to 14 May 2011

Programme Highlights

  • Focus on concerns on illegal borrowing and loanshark harassment.

  • Slogan contest for customers, attracting some 1,300 entries.

  • Over 1,000 customers taking part in our roadshow challenge to assemble the slogan, and the fastest 200 players coming to our Livewire venue at Marina Bay Sands for a tournament.

  • Keynote speech by Dr Jon Kelly, Chief Executive Officer of the Responsible Gambling Council, Ontario, Canada at the opening ceremony. Some 500 staff and external stakeholders listened to Dr Kelly's sharing on the topic of creating an effective safety net to promote responsible gaming.

  • Refresher training talks, presentations, games, quizzes and skits for all staff and retailers, organised in partnership with Thye Hwa Kuan Moral Society and YAH! Community College.
