National Under-18 midfielder Joshua Bernard Pereira won not only the Dollah Kassim Award 2015, but also an opportunity to train overseas. Since 2010, Singapore Pools has funded five young football talents to prestigious football clubs, in line with its commitment as a leading partner in the sports community.
Previous winners Ammirul Emmran Mazlan (2010) and Adam Swandi (2011) attended two-week training programmes at Newcastle United Academy. R Aaravin (2012), Hazim Faiz (2013) and Muhelmy Suhaimi (2014) had memorable stints at FC Metz in France.
"The New Paper Dollah Kassim Award is a great platform for us to show our support for young football talents. The nominees get public recognition and support through TNP's coverage while Singapore Pools funds the overseas training stint for the winner. We hope this year's winner, Joshua, will take full advantage of the opportunities and realise his dreams." said Mrs Janet Seow, Director of Corporate Services and Corporate Communications, Singapore Pools.
Joshua received the Dollah Kassim Award on 14 Nov from Mr Navin Nambiar, son-in-law of the late Dollah Kassim, at Jurongville Secondary School during the National Football Academy Graduation Ceremony. Mrs Janet Seow presented the Singapore Pools Passport to Excellence prize.
