A simple campaign can spark a significant impact in supporting inclusive sports for persons with disabilities through a simple yet powerful action.  The second edition of Community With A Heart (CWAH) campaign reached its $500,000 target four months ahead of the planned end date of 31 December 2024! This incredible achievement would not have been possible without the enthusiastic support of our community.

Singapore Pools hosted a cheque presentation ceremony on 29 November to mark the campaign's success. Singapore Pools Chairman Kai Nargolwala and Tote Board Senior Director Kevin Ng presented the cheque to Community Chest Chairman Chew Sutat, witnessed by Minister of State, Mr Alvin Tan, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth & Ministry of Trade and Industry. The event also featured an inspiring panel sharing with athletes Yip Pin Xiu, Jeralyn Tan, ex-athlete Theresa Goh and Coach Yurnita Omar, sharing their journeys and experiences in inclusive sports and community.

CWAH2024 was launched with great excitement at the Paralympic Fiesta on 4 May, where we rallied support for inclusive sports for persons with disabilities. Over the past few months, we’ve been inspired by the public’s overwhelming response, as thousands came together to send virtual hearts, either via the interactive screens at 17 of Singapore Pools outlets island-wide or through their mobile devices.

Community With A Heart was launched at the Paralympic Fiesta event, graced by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam.

For each heart sent through a tap, Singapore Pools, in partnership with Tote Board, pledged $2 towards this meaningful cause through Community Chest. Funds raised go towards several charities dedicated to supporting athletes and individuals with disabilities, including Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore, Equestrian Federation of Singapore, Parabowls Singapore, Singapore Disability Sports Council, Singapore National Paralympic Council, and Special Olympics Singapore.

Our Singapore Pools volunteer sharing about CWAH with member of public at the Qixi Festival

The campaign’s momentum was amplified through our community events, Football With A Heart and the Qixi Festival, where members of the public participated in spreading love and goodwill. These engagements not only brought people together in the spirit of doing good but also helped raise greater awareness and support for Singapore’s para-athletes.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who took the time to participate and spread the word about this campaign. Your dedication has helped us reach our goal far earlier than expected, underscoring the strength and unity of our community.
