England is the land where football came from, and the passion and energy of English football has long captivated the attention of football fans in England, Europe and beyond. Indeed, since the inception of the modern English Premier competition in 1992, the highest tier of English football has continued to grow in competitiveness, commercial value and global fan interest.

As England continues to recover from the coronavirus pandemic, English Premier teams will look forward to the steady return of fans to stadiums as they prepare for a new campaign kicking off in August 2021. Familiar war cries from passionate supporters will drive the players to give their best as they look to create memorable moments throughout this long season.

Breaking past one thousand

With a total of 1,023 goals, the 2020/2021 season continues a high-scoring streak. There were more than 1,000 goals scored in eleven of the last twelve English Premier seasons.

Breaking records

Manchester City set a new English Premier record with twelve consecutive away wins from December 2020 to May 2021. That run was ended by a 2-3 defeat against Brighton.

Goal feasts

Nine of the last ten English Premier seasons produced at least one match where nine or more goals were scored. The 2018/2019 season was the odd one out, with two matches producing eight goals, but none producing nine.

London heavyweights

Fulham’s relegation and Brentford’s promotion means the number of London-based English Premier teams this season remains at six. In total, nine current London-based teams have played English Premier football before.
