Our pursuit of national standards for environmentally-sound practices is an ongoing journey. In 2024, the Singapore Pools building was conferred the Green Mark Platinum Award; the highest level of certification under the Green Mark certification scheme awarded by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) of Singapore.
Through several key initiatives, we prioritise enhancing energy efficiency and promoting sustainable practices across our operations. Optimising energy usage, our head office utilizes energy-efficient LED fittings and high efficiency air conditioning systems featuring a NEA energy label tick rating of 5.
With over 361 square meters of photovoltaic panels on our rooftop, over 76,000 kWh/year of renewable energy is generated per year to help power essential components of our building infrastructure, including passenger lifts and an entire office floor.
At Singapore Pools, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility is a core value. Our ongoing initiatives are designed to engage staff and promote sustainable practices across the organisation.
Past initiatives include Angbao collection and textile recycling drives. Through a collaboration with Reborn Recycle Services, we hosted red packet and textile collection drop-off points at our main office and selected outlets to give red packets and unwanted textiles a second lease on life. Collected items were repurposed into innovative products such as card boxes, toilet rolls and processed engineered fuel.
As a socially responsible organisation, Singapore Pools prioritises minimising our environmental impact.
Since 2003, Singapore Pools staff volunteers have been spearheading initiatives and organizing activities focused on environmental protection and conservation. Through Earth Buddiz, a staff-led volunteer group, we have collaborated with various partners including GreenSG COLLAB, Nature Society (Singapore), and Preschool Market.
From fundraising to excursions and raising awareness among staff about the environment and impact, Earth Buddiz continues to champion the green cause at Singapore Pools.
Past Activities:
• Operation We Clean Up at Middle Road
• Talk on reducing our carbon footprint
• Coastal clean-up at Lim Chu Kang
• Tree planting at Kallang Riverside Park
Since moving into Singapore Pools Building in 2013, we have supported the international Earth Hour initiative by switching off facade and non-essential building lightings from 8.30pm to 9.30pm.
