On Singapore Pools’ 46th anniversary, the company will conduct a Toto draw with a minimum jackpot of $5 million. The draw will take place on 23 May 2014 (Friday) at 9.30 pm at Singapore Pools, 210 Middle Road, replacing the regular Thursday Toto draw for the week.

Sales of tickets for the Toto $5 Million Anniversary Draw (Draw No. 2955/2014) will commence from:

a.   6.10pm, 15 May 2014 for customers buying for the Toto Draw (Draw No. 2954/2014) on Monday, 19 May 2014 and the Anniversary Draw (Draw No. 2955/2014) on Friday, 23 May; and

b.   6.10pm, 19 May 2014 for customers buying the Anniversary Draw (Draw No. 2955/2014) only.

All Singapore Pools’ branches and authorised retail outlets will close at 9pm on 23 May 2014. Refer to Annex A for details of extended sales hours on 21 and 22 May 2014.

The results of the Toto $5 Million Anniversary Draw (Draw No. 2955/2014) will be uploaded on the Singapore Pools website www.singaporepools.com.sg from 10.30pm on the evening of the draw. All major local dailies will publish the results on Saturday, 24 May 2014.

Beginnings of TOTO

“Toto” is derived by combining better known terms “Totalisator” and “Lotto”. While the jackpot prize was increased through the years, the bet amount remains unchanged at $0.50 per board for 46 years.

About two weeks after Singapore Pools Private Limited was incorporated on 23 May 1968, the very first Toto draw was held on 9 June 1968 at the Victoria Theatre. The draw was broadcast live on television and drew a capacity crowd. Presently, all lottery draws are still conducted in the presence of members of the public and an independent public accounting firm, at a purpose‐built draw hall at Singapore Pools headquarters, to ensure the security and integrity of the draws.

About Toto

Toto, also known as Lotto in many other countries, is a simple numbers game. A person picks six numbers, each from one to 45. During a Toto draw, six numbers plus an additional number will be drawn. If four or more numbers on a ticket matches the seven drawn numbers, the person wins a cash prize. The more numbers that match, the bigger the prize. If all six numbers match the six numbers drawn, the person becomes a jackpot winner. The minimum bet is $1 for two ordinary Toto games.
