On 18 July 2024, the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) announced that Singapore Pools was conferred as a Company of Good — 3 Hearts. The recognition is presented annually to honour exemplary companies for doing good and have also been a multiplier by engaging their partners and stakeholders on a collaborative journey.
The Company of Good recognition is a national initiative under NVPC, aiming to recognise the contributions of organisations in Singapore for their commitment to corporate purpose adoption efforts and how they demonstrate positive impact across the People, Society, Governance, Environment and Economic dimensions.
There are four categories under the Company of Good recognition, namely: Company of Good — 1 Hearts, Company of Good — 2 Hearts, Company of Good — 3 Hearts, and Champions of Good.
By conferring the Recognition of Company of Good — 3 Hearts to Singapore Pools, NVPC recognises our efforts towards corporate purpose adoption with a clear plan to scale positive impact across various dimensions.
Over the years, Singapore Pools have been providing contributions to the Tote Board to fund a wide range of impactful community causes so as to strengthen bonds, build resilience and uplift the lives of Singaporeans. Our staff play a major part in achieving our corporate purpose, as we adopt non-discriminatory hiring and fair remuneration practices, provide career advancement, workforce upskilling, work-life harmony and healthcare protection, as well as ensure workplace safety.
As a company with a strong social purpose, Singapore Pools constantly looks for ways to engage the community and create meaningful impact by leveraging on our facility infrastructures, retail network, staff expertise, and partners and stakeholders. On the environment front, we have prioritised our green journey to align with key sustainable development goals. This includes sustainable operations like eBetslip, a paperless mobile app for customers, as well as agroup of staff committed to championing green issues and organising educational workshops and activities.
For the past 20 years, our staff volunteers have come together to help disadvantaged children, bring cheer to frail and needy elderly persons, conserve the environment, and organise meaningful fund-raising activities such as the flagship executive football fundraiser--Football with A Heart. Our staff volunteerism rate is currently at 60.75%, with more than 8000 volunteering hours clocked to date. To further its efforts to add value to the community through non-monetary giving, we have also introduced various initiatives such as the Community Housing to provide affordable office space to worthy causes, Venue Sponsorship Scheme and iShine Cloud to generate new solutions for underserved areas, as well as SgPA training seats for charities who wish to upgrade their skills in various areas. Through all of these, Singapore Pools is reinventing giving for an ever-changing world.
