Twenty-two Staff volunteers from i-FRIEND, one of the teams under Singapore Pools' Staff Community Programme, iShine, together with their family members and friends, celebrated Christmas early with one hundred and twenty elderly residents from the Society For the Aged Sick (SAS) on Saturday, 8 December 2018.

Our iShine volunteers partnered with community partner, Faith Music Centre, to bring festive cheer to everyone present. On top of music performances, the elderly residents were also entertained by one of our staff volunteer, who came as Santa Clause to distribute gifts and log cakes.

The programme closed with the seniors being treated to a sumptuous dinner. More than just food and presents, we were heartened to see that the residents at SAS smile, and their day brightened. The hall was filled with laughter and melodious Christmas jingles as our volunteers also doubled as carolers to spread the Christmas spirit.

Team i-FRIEND has been volunteering and bringing comfort to the elderly friends at the Society for the Aged Sick since 2003. SAS is one of the multiple adopted charities under Singapore Pools’s iShine programme. The Home provides residential and respite services to elderlies in need of daily nursing care and/or assistance in daily living. Most of SAS residents are made up of vulnerable elderlies from low-income families who are in need of community support.
