41 staff volunteers from iFriend, one of the teams under Singapore Pools' Staff Community Programme, iShine celebrated Dumpling Festival with 100 senior citizens from the Society for the Aged Sick on 1 June 2019.

Our iFriend volunteers partnered with community partner, SHINE Children and Youth Services, to bring festive cheer to everyone present with their lion dance performances. On top of the teens’ performances, the elderly residents were also entertained by song performances from Faith Music Centre.

The programme closed with volunteers distributing nostalgic Singapore snacks which the senior citizens reminisced nostalgic memories during their younger days. The highlight of the event was feasting of bite-sized dumplings where the event area was filled with laughter as our volunteers, who had become good friends with the residents, spent time catching up with the elderly.

Team iFriend has been volunteering and bringing comfort to our elderly friends at the Society for the Aged Sick since 2003. SAS is one of the multiple adopted charities under the iShine programme, which provides residential and respite services to elderlies in need of daily nursing care and/or assistance in daily living. Most of SAS residents are made up of vulnerable elderlies from low-income families who need community support.
