Singapore Pools Celebrates 50 Years of Community Giving

2018 is a momentous year for Singapore Pools as we turn 50! This is also a timely occasion for us to commemorate, reflect on and celebrate our journey as one - in and with the community.

Over the past 50 years, Singapore Pools has made possible many of the good we see in Singapore today. In support of nation building, we have provided funding for the establishment of iconic landmarks such as Singapore's first National Stadium, the Indoor Stadium, and Esplanade (Theatres on the Bay).

Through Tote Board, we also contributed our surpluses towards the funding of several national infrastructures such as The Sports Hub, Gardens by the Bay, and more recently, the National Gallery. Beyond physical structures, our surpluses have also been distributed to benefit good causes in strategic sectors ranging from sports to charity, community development to education, as well as health and the arts. All these stand as testament to our commitment in being a force for good in and with the community.

The theme of our 50th anniversary celebration is also centered on the community. Themed '50 years for Community Benefit', we will be celebrating with the community and leveraging this special occasion to give back in a meaningful way. Stay tuned as we bring back our executive football charity fundraiser 'Football With A Heart' (FWAH) on 5 and 6 May 2018 at Our Tampines Hub.

In addition, for the first time in history, we will also be organising 'Concert With A Heart' to celebrate talents of the differently abled. This admission-free concert will take place at the same time and venue as FWAH 2018 and is our gift to the community!

Turning 50, looking 30, feeling 20, is how we want to embrace 2018!

President's Star Charity 2017

Singapore Pools is glad to be part of President's Star Charity 2017. Together with Tote Board and Singapore Turf Club, we presented our donation cheque of more than $1.4 million to Mdm Halimah Yacob, President of the Republic of Singapore. Since 2000, Singapore Pools and Tote Board have been providing grants to cover the operating costs of the President's Challenge. With our support, every dollar donated to the President's Challenge goes directly to the beneficiaries.

Giving Week 2017

For Giving Week 2017, Singapore Pools ran a contest in our community Facebook page to encourage our fans to share the spirit of giving. Our staff volunteers conducted a storytelling and reading session under the NLD kidsREAD programme for the children at Singapore Children's Society Sunbeam Place. Together with Tote Board, we also supported Handicaps Welfare Association's Hong Bao Project and Social Health Growth's Clothing Project.

Bringing Festive Cheer to the Aged Sick

Festive cheer and Christmas carols filled the hearts of the elderly residents at the Society for the Aged Sick on 9 Dec. Our iSHINE volunteers together with Faith Music Centre brought smiles to the elderly through our festive performances. Putting on Santa's hats, our volunteers also rolled in trolleys of gifts for the elderly. The joy of sharing doesn't stop at one. Our iSHINE volunteers also volunteered at the Yishun Community Hospital, brought the Singapore Children's Society Sunbeam Place children to the Transformers Run 2018 and visited a farm with the elderly from NKF in addition to participating in a garden workshop with them.

Singapore Pools organised its third Learning Festival on 18 and 19 Jan. It was two days of non-stop learning activities for the staff. This year's theme "Think BIG! A World of Possibilities" is about inspiring all of us to continue striving for excellence and to have the courage to dream, adapt and grow so that we can have the ability to remain resilient and relevant despite a world filled with volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity.
